Hugging Face is exploring a potential sale at a valuation of $13 billion or more, nearly three times what the AI startup was worth just three years ago.
“Hugging Face has been fielding M&A interest for a deal worth at least $13 billion,” Business Insider
reported
, citing people familiar with the matter.
The New York-based company has been working with a bank to gauge interest from potential buyers, according to the report. Talks remain preliminary, and no deal has been reached.
Still, the reported price tag is striking. Hugging Face was valued at $4.5 billion in August 2023 after raising $235 million from a group of tech heavyweights that included Google, Nvidia, Salesforce, Amazon, IBM, Intel, AMD, Qualcomm and Sound Ventures.
A $13 billion deal would represent a roughly 189% increase from that valuation and could put one of the AI industry’s most influential developer platforms under the control of a single company.
